  • Model:GPKSPROEX

The G-PKS PRO EX parabolic microphone is a professional portable parabolic microphone for long range listening of speech as well as human voice conversations.

All the microphone components have been manufactured according to the highest quality standards in the industry and the parabolic microphone system design has been specifically taylored to suit human voice listening, monitoring and recording purposes: parabolic microphone electronics are specifically gauged to deliver the highest possible sensitivity when listening to human voice frequencies.

In comparison with the standard G-PKS PRO, the advanced "EX" version offers the following unprecedented features:

  • full suite of accessories included, including a professional tripod and parabolic microphone holder for stationary operation
  • top-quality acoustics and electronics, with increased sensitivity
  • audio recording encryption and password protection
  • a special, encrypted laptop for secure storage of digital voice recordings
  • easy-to-use audio post-processing software to enhance and improve audio signal and quality of recordings

System comes complete with a full suite of accessories, including a dedicated digital voice recording monitoring and listening system, allowing both real time monitoring and recording.

MAIN FEATURES

  • fully transparent 20" parabolic dish (disappears over a distance, thus making microphone operation virtually invisible)
  • 20Hz-20Khz frequency response
  • highly directional capture pattern
  • WAV or MP3 recording up to a stunning 24 bit - 96Khz sampling (that is double CD quality!) for WAV file format
  • audio file encryption for confidential use during important investigations
  • passcode protection to prevent unauthorized usage
  • removable SD card memory
  • fully embedded parabolic microphone system with enhanced ergonomics and no need for bulky/external power feeding source
  • UBS 2.0 computer integration with digital voice file transfer and editing
  • up to 2-3 hours of full system power and continuous recording on a single set of 4 ordinary AA-type batteries
  • supports the use of AA-type rechargeable Ni-Mh batteries
  • external mains power feeding through DC adapter (DC adapter optionally available upon request)
  • external rechargeable hi-stamina battery pack power supply (optionally available upon request)
  • double display LCD display + separate easy-to-read LED audio level meter
  • fully portable or stationary (thanks to the included professional tripod) operation
  • computer-assisted (laptop included) SPECTRADOME Audio Station for audio recording files post processing, enhancing and editing
  • two IP67 carrying cases

A DETAILED DESCRIPTION FOR THE TEST OVER A 100mt/yd RANGE IS PROVIDED AS FOLLOWS

In this test, located in urban environment, a G-PKS PRO EX parabolic microphone listens to a female voice speaking with a normal tone of voice 100 meters away.
The person speaking says: "This is SPECTRADOME G-PKS PRO EX parabolic microphone recording me at the distance of 100 meters speaking with a normal tone of voice with medium microphone gain. One, two, three, four, five, test!"
The environmental acoustic interference level in this test can be considered medium level, since the following interference sources (highlighted by yellow numbers in the pictures) are present:
1) some birds chirping;
2) upcoming runners;
3) flying-by plane.

At the very beginning of the recording (time 0:00-0:01), bird chirping can be heard likely coming from the trees aside the listening range.
From time 0:02 to the end of recording, a plane flying by over our heads can be heard distinctively, bringing constant acoustic interference to the whole recording.
From time 00:12 to the end of recording, an upcoming runner stepping on gravel delivers additional acoustic interference to the whole recording.

Despite the interference, the person speaking can be very clearly listened to and recorded from over a 100mt distance with the new G-PKS PRO EX.
Besides, it is very important to consider that the G-PKS PRO EX microphone is now operating at a medium gain, which leaves another -6dBs of gain improvement: we have intentionally used medium gain in this recording to show microphone sensitivity and selectivity in presence of acoustic interference.

During the whole recording, the parabolic microphone operator is moving (this recording has been obtained without using a tripod) and trying to keep the best speech capture position, something which is becoming increasingly difficult as long as the listening range increases and acoustic interference sources enter the listening scenario.
Considering the multiple interference sources, the recording is certainly intelligible and most of what the person speaking is saying can be clearly understood.
The recording has been undergoing digital audio enhancing by the included Spectradome Audiostation, with the aim to reduce noise and enhance speech to the highest possible quality.

A DETAILED DESCRIPTION FOR THE TEST OVER A 200mt/yd RANGE IS PROVIDED AS FOLLOWS

In this test, took in urban environment, a G-PKS PRO EX parabolic microphone listens to a female voice speaking with a very normal tone of voice 200 meters/yards away from the listening post.
The female voice speaking, continuously says: "This is SPECTRADOME G-PKS PRO EX parabolic microphone recording me at the distance of 200 meters speaking with a normal tone of voice with high microphone gain. One, two, three, four, five, test!"
The environmental acoustic interference level in this test can be considered medium to high, since the following interference sources (highlighted by yellow numbers in the pictures) are present:
1) two other persons speaking at about 120 meters;
2) upcoming runners;
3) a train in motion making maneuvers behind the trees (brake whistles can be heard distinctively);
4) flying-by plane;
5) vehicular traffic nearby (300mts) and a trafficked highway ramp located 1Km away
6) high-AC voltage lines overhead.

Despite a few persons speaking while standing in the listening line (they can be heard from time 0:9 to 0:15, from 0:29 to 0:43 and around time 1:32 in the recording), an upcoming runner (time 1:29-1:32), a plane flying by (from time 0:40 to 0:48) and vehicular traffic at no more than 300 meters behind the person speaking (from time 0:59 to 1:03 a truck honk can be heard distinctively), the person speaking can be positively listened to and recorded from over a 200mt distance with the new G-PKS PRO EX.
